AK-7. AK-7 has been shown to be a SIRT2 inhibitor but does not inhibit Sirt1 or Sirt31. In primary striatal neurons, SIRT2 has been shown to down-regulate cholesterol biosynthesis genes. Additionally, it has been associated with protecting neurons in Huntington’s disease research, leading to better motor function, extended survival and reduced brain atrophy. SIRT2 also has been used in Alzheimer’s disease research.
